Michael Jackson tables
My main job this lovely Saturday was building new seedling tables for the propagation tunnel. I built the old ones at the start of our first season three years ago and, if they could do the “hee-hee”, they’d be indistinguishable from Michael Jackson in Billie Jean.
I was in a rush and on a budget back then so I constructed them out of wood that was too thin for the job. But more importantly, they were held together by a cocktail of flimsy screws and sheer good will. Given that wet compost weighs a shit tonne (which as an SI unit conversion is 100kg per table) my wooden Frankenstein monsters did an honourable job for three seasons.
But as the saying goes, you buy cheap - you buy twice. I’m not someone who lives by this mantra - sometimes needs must and quick n dirty is the right solution in that moment. But here I am, coming with reinforcement in the form of 2x3s, rust-resistant bolts and three years of accumulated provincial know-how. Part of the know-how was learning the PPPPPP method over the years. Which stands for Prior Preparation Prevents Piss-Poor Performance.
Anyway, I think I’ll finish most of these tomorrow before my sister comes to visit us in the afternoon.
See yall tomorrow bois and gurls,
Patrick
